As a senior, I can confirm that a flash drive is one of those overlooked college essentials that can save your academic life. When campus wifi inevitably crashes during finals week, you’ll be glad to have your papers and projects backed up locally. Plus, many professors still require physical backups of assignments, and computer lab printers often only accept USB drives.

For college essentials and dorm room essentials shopping lists, don’t skip the flash drive. Get at least 32GB – they’re cheap insurance against lost work. The library computers won’t always let you access cloud storage, but they’ll always have USB ports. Keep it on your keychain and thank me later.
